Blood supply

Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen is certified as a blood institution by Ministerial Decree of 30 November 2017 (RIZIV no. 7-95009-03 – 98-1001), as a laboratory for clinical biology (RIZIV no. 8-12650-16-998) and as intermediary structure (within the meaning of the Human Bodily Materials Act of 19 December 2008). The supervisory authorities are the Federal Public Service for Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment and the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP).

Assistance

The Belgian Red Cross has been appointed by the government to manage the number 105 (central dispatching and non-urgent patient transport). The Belgian Red Cross is under the supervision of the Belgian Institute for Postal Services and Telecommunications (www.bipt.be) with regard to this.

The Belgian Red Cross has been appointed by the government to provide assistance in the event of disasters, in particular the provision of particularly urgent medical assistance and urgent psychosocial intervention, within the framework of the emergency and intervention plans drawn up by the government. The Belgian Red Cross is under the supervision of the Federal Public Service for Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment (https://www.health.belgium.be/nl) with regard to this.

Vormingsinstituut Rode Kruis Vlaanderen VZW is certified as a national training institute and specialises in the area of First Aid. The supervisory authority is the Department of Culture, Youth and Media of the Flemish Government (http://www.sociaalcultureel.be/volwassenen/index.aspx).

Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen undersigned the Code of Conduct for the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and NGOs in Disaster Relief of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen takes care of a number of applicants for international protection in Belgium on instruction of the federal government pursuant to the statute of 12 January 2017 on care for asylum seekers and of certain other categories of aliens. The supervisory authority is the Federal Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (www.fedasil.be). All personnel within the reception structures for asylum seekers are bound by the deontological code which was recorded by ministerial decree on 19 December 2013. Fund raising

Rode Kruis-Vlaanderen is a member of the Belgian Association for Ethical Fund Raising and has signed the ethical code of non-profit organisations which rely on the generosity of the population.
