CEBaP at the European Conference on Donor Health and Management

From 7-9 September, the 5th European Conference on Donor Health and Management (ECDHM) will be held in Vienna, Austria. The conference is organised by the European Blood Alliance, and hosted by the Austrian Red Cross and the Vienna University of Economics and Business. 
ECDHM is the primary platform to share knowledge and learn about the latest developments in science, policy, and experiences in the field of donor health and management. The programme covers blood, organ, and stem cell donors, with emphasis on blood donors. Discussion topics include donor retention, infections & ethics, prosocial behavior, plasma donation and much more.

CEBaP’s Coordinating Researcher Hans Van Remoortel is attending the conference and will contribute in several ways:

• On 8 September, he will chair the session on ‘Plasma donation’.
• On 9 September, a special session will be held on ‘Strenghtening voluntary non-remunerated plasma collection capacity in Europe: First results from the EU-funded project SUPPLY’, where Hans will present our contributions to the project:
  1. Adverse events and health effects in plasmapheresis donors: A scoping review and gap analysis;
  2. The impact of frequent plasmapheresis on plasma donor safety or health: a systematic review of controlled experimental and observational studies
