World Evidence-Based Healthcare Day 2025

16/10/25

Each year on 20 October, we celebrate World Evidence-Based Healthcare (EBHC) Day. On this day, the global health community raises awareness about the need for evidence-informed healthcare policy, practice and decision-making with the aim of improving health outcomes globally.

In 2025, the World EBHC Day campaign theme is Collaborative Knowledge Communication. When sharing knowledge, it is not only what we share that matters, but also how we share it. Collaborative Knowledge Communication refers to different disciplines working together to creatively communicate information, ideas and expertise. This approach enables evidence-based decision-making, problem solving and innovation based on shared knowledge. The Collaborative Knowledge Communication campaign invites researchers, healthcare professionals, communicators and decision-makers to reflect on their role in this process.

As a committed Evidence Ambassador of World EBHC Day, CEBaP contributed to the campaign with:

  • Our trusted whiteboard drawing illustrating the principles of evidence-based practice using a hands-on first aid example;
  • A blog on the development process of our evidence-based guidance manual “Listen! First aid for mental health problems” (original in Dutch: “Luister! Eerste hulp bij psychische problemen”), and our efforts to disseminate it to the public, fellow professionals and other target groups;
  • A blog on “Balancing donor safety and supply: the road to plasma self-sufficiency”, where we share insights from the SUPPLY project and discuss the delicate balance between ensuring donor safety and achieving plasma self-sufficiency.

Cochrane First Aid is a global initiative hosted and coordinated by CEBaP. This network brings together people committed to developing, sharing and implementing high-quality research evidence on first aid. Cochrane First Aid is also an Evidence Ambassador and contributed to World EBHC Day 2025 with:

  • A blog on their approach to making evidence accessible, understandable and actionable by using audience-tailored formats, breaking down language barriers and using various platforms and partnerships;
  • An infographic making the key findings of the 2025 Cochrane systematic review on ‘First aid training for laypeople’ accessible to a broad audience.

In addition, as part of the Connected Conversations series, CEBaP researcher and coordinator of Cochrane First Aid Jorien features in a video on building trust and addressing misinformation in healthcare.
