Cochrane First Aid is a global initiative hosted and coordinated by CEBaP, bringing together people committed to developing, sharing and implementing high-quality scientific evidence on first aid. It is led by our Director Emmy De Buck and coordinated by two of our researchers, i.e. Jorien Laermans and Yana Criel.
From 19-21 May, Emmy and Jorien attended the annual face-to-face meeting of the Cochrane Acute and Emergency Care Thematic Group in Helsingør, Denmark. This partnership of five Cochrane entities, including Cochrane First Aid, is designed to advance collaboration and research across this broad range of specialised topic areas. The goal is to improve the quality and accessibility of evidence for healthcare providers in time-sensitive settings, and ultimately enhance patient outcomes.
During the meeting, the Thematic Group members explored both current and upcoming initiatives related to priority setting, evidence dissemination, patient and public involvement, and new developments in evidence synthesis methods. They also worked on further refining and aligning their collaboration, while strengthening connections with the Cochrane Central Editorial Service and Cochrane Denmark.
Beyond the formal sessions, they appreciated a lively social programme that helped deepen professional relationships while discovering the historic city of Helsingør.
All in all, the meeting marked an important step forward for the Thematic Group, and everyone looks forward with enthusiasm to what lies ahead.
