Join the online “Long Night of Research on Volunteering” on 23-24 March

06/03/23

On 23 and 24 March 2023, the very first “RC3 Long Night of Research on Volunteering” will take place. This is a 24-hour online event, organized jointly by the Red Cross Red Crescent Research Consortium (RC3) and the Global Volunteering Alliance of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. It is dedicated to showcasing how research improves practice on the burning issue of volunteerism and volunteering development, and aimed at participants from within the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement. Many Red Cross Red Cross National Societies will be present, as well as volunteers, to share results and experiences on using research to inform their volunteering practices.

Here is a glimpse of some of the exciting sessions this event will feature:

  • Covid-19 and volunteerism;
  • New forms of volunteering and digital transformation of volunteering;
  • Volunteers as research drivers: examples of how volunteers can be involved in the different stages of research;
  • Volunteers’ wellbeing and supporting supervision for volunteers;
  • …and many more!

The full programme and links to the different Zoom sessions can be found here (only for Red Cross Red Crescent staff and volunteers). CEBaP will present on the topic of volunteers as research drivers, and will provide some examples of how volunteers are involved to formulate a research question or collect data at Belgian Red Cross.
